AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 20 OF THE MINISTERIAL AND PARLIAMENTARY OFFICES ACT, 1938 . [30th July, 1949.] |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS:— | ||

Amendment of section 20 of the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Act, 1938. |
1. —Subsection (1) of section 20 of the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Act, 1938 (No. 38 of 1938), is hereby amended in the following respects— |
[GA] | (a) by the insertion at the end of paragraph (d) of the following— | |
[GA] | “(dd) a person, who died on or after the date of the passing of this Act and held a qualifying office at the date of his death, would not, if he had ceased to hold such office on that date, have been entitled at that date to a pension,” | |
[GA] | (b) by the insertion at the end of paragraph (e) of the words “or, if such person is a person to whom paragraph (dd) of this subsection applies, a pension (in this Act also referred to as a widow's pension) at the rate of, in case such person held a ministerial office at the date of his death, one hundred and fifty pounds per annum or, in case such person held a secretarial office at the date of his death, one hundred pounds per annum”. | |

Short title, collective citation and commencement. |
2. —(1) This Act may be cited as the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1949. |
[GA] | (2) The Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Acts, 1938 and 1947, and this Act may be cited together as the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Acts, 1938 to 1949. | |
[GA] | (3) This Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on, and shall have effect as on and from, the 22nd day of December, 1938. |
